Make a Stamp or Postcard From Your Photo With AI

Quick answer: Upload your photo to one of three 2Slides effects. Vintage Stamp Postcard keeps your landscape photo on top and carves the scene into a round stamp below. Photo Memory Stamp is the one built for portrait photos. Hand-Drawn Travel Postcard redraws the scene as a 3:2 postcard front. A 2K image costs 100 credits, about $0.25.

Vintage Stamp Postcard: the couple, the lamppost and the bicycle on the Seine all make it into the stamp.

All three take a photo you already have and return a printable image in about half a minute. Two keep your photograph and add a stamp beside it. The third repaints the scene as an illustrated postcard. Each runs one fixed prompt, published in full on its effect page.

Which stamp or postcard effect should you use?

Use the shape of your photo to decide. A wide landscape photo of a place or a pet suits Vintage Stamp Postcard. A tall portrait-orientation photo suits Photo Memory Stamp, the only effect on the site built for vertical shots. If you want a postcard front with no photo on it, use Hand-Drawn Travel Postcard.

"Clean test runs" counts test generations that passed every rule before the effect went live. These are small samples on one test photo each, so read them as a rough guide, not exact odds.

How to make a stamp or postcard from your photo

You need an account only to generate; browsing samples and prompts is free.

  1. Open the effect that matches your photo shape (see the table above).
  2. Upload your photo. JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 12 MB. It is stored privately, deleted on a schedule, never made public and never used to train a model.
  3. Type your text. For the stamps, a title and keywords, such as "Kotor" and "bay · bells · stone". For the postcard, a greeting and a place name. Your own text is always more reliable than the model's.
  4. Choose 2K or 4K. 2K costs 100 credits (about $0.25). 4K costs 200 credits (about $0.50) and doubles each side.
  5. Generate. Most images arrive in under a minute (35 seconds median across 47 real generations); a few take up to a minute and a half. Keep the tab open while it runs.

New accounts get 500 free credits, enough for five 2K images. Failed generations are refunded automatically.

Vintage Stamp Postcard: a landscape photo plus a carved stamp

Vintage Stamp Postcard splits a 3:4 frame in half. Your photo stays on top. Below it, on aged ivory paper, the model carves the core subject into a round commemorative stamp, in two or three faded inks pulled from your photo, with the uneven inking and slight misregistration of a stamp pressed by hand. Your caption sits underneath.

The stamp keeps only the three to five most important subjects, so one clear subject works best. It passed all 6 scored test runs, and the caption came out clean across 22 consecutive runs. The weak case is a dense crowd: in a separate test on a 40-person group photo, the stamp sometimes spread over the center line.

A cat on a rainy platform: a single subject gives the cleanest stamp.

Photo Memory Stamp: the one for portrait photos

Photo Memory Stamp is the only effect built for portrait-orientation photos. Your photo runs edge to edge down the left of a 4:5 archive card. To its right, on mostly empty off-white paper, the scene is reduced to three to five visual anchors and re-cut as a rubber stamp, letterpress or linocut in one to three inks from the photo.

A wide landscape photo loses most of its width, and usually its subject, to fit the tall column. It is also the least predictable of the three, with 4 of 6 test runs clean. Title, keywords and photo were right in all 6; both failures were in the stamp. One invented text, including a made-up date, and one skipped the print treatment.

Big Ben in one blue ink: the clock faces and the spire carry the whole stamp.

Hand-Drawn Travel Postcard: a postcard front, no photo

Hand-Drawn Travel Postcard redraws your photo as the front of an old travel postcard: watercolor washes over pen line work in three depth layers, an aged ivory border, a perforated stamp with a thumbnail of the scene, and a postmark whose lettering is half-dissolved on purpose. Because it redraws rather than traces, faces come back as approximations. It needs depth, such as a street running down to the sea or a riverbank at dusk.

Set the greeting yourself; a blank greeting is where this effect goes wrong most often. In testing, supplied text was transcribed exactly in 6 of 6 runs, and the one failure put the subtitle inside the headline.

The road keeps its vanishing point and every power pole, and the sea behind it flattens into two bands of wash.

Photo tips for a better stamp or postcard

The photo matters more than any setting.

  • One clear subject. A landmark, an animal or a single tree survives the reduction; a crowd does not.
  • No very dark, blurred or text-heavy images. The stamp needs shapes it can carve.
  • Match the orientation: landscape for the Vintage Stamp and the postcard, portrait for the Memory Stamp.
  • No close-up faces. Use a full-length figure, a back view or a pet instead.

Can you mail it? A note on postage

These are decorative artworks, not postage. The stamp in the image is a drawing with no value, so it cannot replace a real stamp. To mail one, print it on card stock and add real postage.

The 3:2 Hand-Drawn Travel Postcard fits a standard 4 × 6 inch postcard exactly, at more than 400 pixels per inch from the 2K file. The 3:4 Vintage Stamp Postcard prints at 6 × 8 inches at 300 pixels per inch, and the 4:5 Photo Memory Stamp suits an 8 × 10 print. Check your postal service's size rules before mailing a homemade card.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a postage stamp from my photo?

You can make an image that looks like one, but not a valid stamp. For real postage with your photo on it, you need a personalized-stamp service approved by your postal service; 2Slides does not provide that.

Can I use a portrait (vertical) photo?

Use Photo Memory Stamp. It puts your photo in a tall column, so vertical shots fit without losing their subject. The other two effects expect a landscape photo.

Can I choose the text on my stamp or postcard?

Yes, on all three, in any language, and the model sets it as written. Leave the fields blank and the model writes its own text, which is less reliable.

How much does it cost to make a photo postcard?

A 2K image costs 100 credits (about $0.25) and 4K costs 200. Credits start at $5 for 2,000, and new accounts get 500 free. The images are yours to use, including commercially.

What if I don't like the result?

Generate again; every run gives a different result. Credits are refunded only when a generation fails outright.

The takeaway

Pick by photo shape: landscape photo plus stamp, portrait photo plus stamp, or a fully redrawn postcard. Type your own text and use a photo with one clear subject. For the most forgiving start, try Vintage Stamp Postcard. To compare these with 31 other styles, see our test results for all 35 AI photo-to-art styles.
