Split layout: section title on the left half, full-height stock photo on the right half.
Revenue rose double digits to ¥260.2 billion (2,602億円), +11% (+6% at constant currency), led by Information Technology. Profit from ordinary operations was ¥89.4 billion (894億円), +27% (CC +23%), on IT sales growth and better Life Care margins; pre-tax profit was ¥91.6 billion (916億円), +27% (CC +23%). Both revenue and profit set quarterly records. ROIC (after-tax operating profit over invested capital) was 26.0%. Average FX: USD ¥159.36 (yen 7.4% weaker), EUR ¥182.99 (yen 6.2% weaker).
Three bullet-point takeaways at top, three equal navy KPI tiles across the middle, ROIC footnote, and a small grey two-row exchange-rate table at bottom right.
Life Care revenue was ¥153.4 billion versus ¥146.9 billion in FY25 Q2 and ¥154.8 billion in FY26 Q1, +4% (CC -1%), with ophthalmology steady and FX translation adding growth. Profit from ordinary operations rose to ¥32.6 billion from ¥25.9 billion (FY26 Q1: ¥29.9 billion), +26% (CC +21%), and the margin improved from 17.6% to 19.4% to 21.2% on product mix and cost rationalisation, returning to the targeted range.
Two bullets on top; two side-by-side charts: revenue bar chart (¥ billion) on the left and profit bars with a margin line overlay on the right, each with a dark grey growth banner beneath.
Eyeglass lens sales grew +8% (CC +1%), roughly flat year on year as declines in the US, where structural reform continues, offset growth in high-value products such as MiYOSMART. The second-generation MiYOSMART is expanding in China and rolling out to other regions, and HOYA is strengthening US sales, production and service to rebuild that business.
Navy growth-rate box on the left, three bullets on the right, wide lifestyle photo strip across the bottom.
Contact lens retail (eyecity) grew +1% (CC +1%). Private-brand products and subscriptions improved customer retention and kept sales stable, but a relatively high prior-year base left revenue flat; the aim is to strengthen the customer base through convenience.
Same product-card template: growth box left, bullets right, store photo strip below.
Endoscope sales fell -10% (CC -16%). In China, policies favouring domestic products keep shrinking the imported endoscope market; in the US, sales were weak amid tough competition. HOYA is rebuilding its sales and service organisation and improving efficiency to recover performance.

Intraocular lens sales grew +5% (CC +1%). China kept declining and a change to German insurance reimbursement hurt, but stable sales in Japan and Asia kept overall growth positive. Trifocal and premium monofocal lenses continued to grow, and HOYA aims to recover in Europe while expanding ATIOL globally.

This group grew +2% (CC -3%). Endoscope reprocessors and metal implants were solid, while chromatography media (still under inventory adjustment) and laparoscopic surgical instruments declined. Metal implants gained new customers for core products; HOYA plans new products and wider regions and customers to grow the medical device business.

IT revenue was ¥106.8 billion versus ¥86.5 billion in FY25 Q2 and ¥101.0 billion in FY26 Q1, +23% (CC +18%), with every product growing strongly and a second straight quarter of 20%+ growth. Profit from ordinary operations rose to ¥58.8 billion from ¥46.0 billion (FY26 Q1: ¥55.6 billion), +28% (CC +24%), and the margin rose from 53.1% to 55.1%, held at 55.1% versus Q1, on higher sales of high-value products.
Two bullets on top; revenue bar chart left and profit bars plus margin line right, each with a growth banner.
LSI sales grew +20% (CC +18%). Demand for EUV mask blanks for leading-edge semiconductors stayed firm on AI demand, and sales of high-value EUV blanks such as low-defect grades and phase-shift masks (PSM) kept growing. HOYA is working with customers and running internal validation toward 12-inch large-mask blanks for High-NA EUV.

FPD sales grew +21% (CC +13%). Although the FPD photomask market softened temporarily, higher sales to a major Korean customer drove a big increase. HOYA captured development demand for advanced displays centred on smartphones and IT OLED, and is developing high-resolution, high-value masks for mid-to-long-term IT OLED and premium smartphone demand.

HDD substrate sales grew +32% (CC +23%). Data-center investment pushed nearline HDD demand higher and 3.5-inch substrate volumes rose sharply. Beyond wider HAMR adoption, non-HAMR drives are also moving to glass substrates as platter counts rise. HDD makers have raised their demand forecasts, so HOYA is increasing output at existing plants and considering bringing forward capacity expansion.

Optical solutions grew +14% (CC +7%). Interchangeable-lens products grew despite a soft digital camera market by focusing on high-value items. Sales of CUPO polarizing glass for optical transceivers rose strongly on AI data-center investment and led overall growth; HOYA is expanding CUPO capacity and pushing growth uses such as wearables and AR.

Section break titled MiYOSMARTのアップデート (MiYOSMART update), opening the thematic section on HOYA's myopia-control spectacle lens.
Split layout: section title left, full-height product photo right.
About half the world's population is projected to be myopic by 2050: all-age prevalence rises from 22.9% (2000 estimate) to 49.8% (2050 forecast), per Holden et al., Ophthalmology 2016. Myopia prevalence among children and adolescents rose from 24.3% (1990-2000) to 35.8% (2023), per Liang et al., Br J Ophthalmol 2025, a pooled analysis of 276 studies in 50 countries covering about 5.41 million people.
One-line summary under the title, two side-by-side two-bar charts with academic citations beneath each.
Myopia-control solutions fall into four types: orthokeratology lenses, low-dose atropine eye drops, myopia-control spectacle lenses and myopia-control soft contact lenses. HOYA launched its myopia-control spectacle lens MiYOSMART in 2018. A footnote notes approval status differs by country.
Two bullets on top, four equal navy header tiles in a row, each above a line drawing of the product type.
Many lenslets surround a clear central zone to create myopic defocus in the periphery and slow axial elongation. In a two-year randomised controlled trial in Hong Kong of 183 myopic children aged 8-13 versus single-vision lenses (Lam et al., Br J Ophthalmol 2020), MiYOSMART slowed myopia progression by 52% and axial elongation by 62%.
Two bullets on top; optical diagram of the eye and lens on the left, two navy result tiles with large percentages and study details on the right.
About 170 million children aged 5-19 (1.7億人, label partly overlaps the icons) are having their myopia corrected. The potential market is $6.7 billion, or $3.6 billion after purchasing-power adjustment, while the myopia-control spectacle lens wholesale market is only $0.5 billion, leaving large room to grow. That lens market is expected to keep growing in the low-to-mid teens percent and reach $1 billion by 2030. Source: company estimates for 2026 based on market research, regional data and LIS income data.
Two bullets on top; horizontal funnel-style bar chart with a row of people icons above three bars of decreasing length.
MiYOSMART sales have grown at a 21% CAGR since FY21 and now account for just under 10% of eyeglass lens sales. China remains the main market, but Europe has recently emerged as a new growth driver. Stacked bars by region (China, Europe, APAC, Other) run from FY18 to FY26E; no absolute values are shown.
Two bullets on top, stacked column chart with a large diagonal arrow labelled 21% CAGR and a legend on the right.
The second-generation MiYOSMART iQ launched in winter 2025, starting in China. Compared with the first generation it strengthens the myopic defocus signal by changing layout, power and coverage: 01 the defocus area moves closer to the lens centre to target the most responsive region; 02 lenslet power rises from +3.5D to +4.5D to increase defocus near the centre of the retina; 03 the defocus area is enlarged so large frames still get enough effect.
Two bullets on top; side-by-side lens diagrams of first and second generation, with three numbered callout lines linking to explanatory text on the right.
In a one-year trial, children wearing MiYOSMART iQ showed no myopia progression on average. Mean 12-month change in cycloplegic spherical equivalent refraction (cSER) was -0.534D for single-vision lenses, -0.255D for MiYOSMART and +0.046D for MiYOSMART iQ (negative means progression). The randomised comparison covered 202 myopic children aged 4-12 in Hong Kong; ANCOVA adjusting for baseline age and refraction found significant differences between groups (p<0.001). Footnotes cite APAO 2026 and ARVO 2026 abstracts, a PLoS One 2025 protocol and HOYA data on file.
Summary line under title, diverging bar chart on the left, explanatory bullets on the right, dense English reference footnotes at the bottom.
The number of countries selling MiYOSMART iQ is expanding each quarter: 11 in FY26 Q1, 27 in FY26 Q2 and a planned 54 by the end of FY26 Q3, matching the number of countries selling the first-generation lens. In existing markets HOYA will use the trial results to add retail doors and aims to outgrow the market's low-to-mid teens growth.

HOYA reports under IFRS. The fiscal period April 2026 to March 2027 is labelled FY26 (fiscal year ending March 2027). Amounts are rounded to ¥100 million (億円), so totals may not add up; percentages use actual amounts. Profit from ordinary operations is a reference figure: pre-tax profit excluding finance income and costs, equity-method results, FX gains and losses and non-recurring items. Financial statements are abbreviated; full details are in the 決算短信 and supplementary materials at hoya.com/investor/kessan/.

HOYA calls the fiscal year from April 2026 to March 2027 "FY26" (the fiscal year ending March 2027). This deck was released on 30 October 2026 with first-half results, but its headline figures are for the second quarter alone (July to September 2026), compared with FY25 Q2 and FY26 Q1.
The original is in Japanese only. HOYA published it on TDnet, the Tokyo Stock Exchange's timely disclosure system, under the title 2027年3月期 第2四半期 決算説明会プレゼンテーション資料 (Q2 earnings briefing presentation for the fiscal year ending March 2027). The analysis on this page is in English; figures keep HOYA's yen units, where 1億円 equals ¥100 million.
Revenue was ¥260.2 billion (+11%, +6% at constant currency), profit from ordinary operations was ¥89.4 billion (+27%) and pre-tax profit was ¥91.6 billion (+27%). Revenue and profit were both quarterly records, and ROIC was 26.0%.
Information Technology grew 23% to ¥106.8 billion with a 55.1% margin. HDD glass substrates rose 32%, FPD photomasks 21%, EUV-focused LSI mask blanks 20% and optical solutions 14%, helped by AI data-center demand. In Life Care, revenue rose 4% (-1% at constant currency), endoscopes fell 10% and the margin improved to 21.2%.
MiYOSMART is HOYA's myopia-control spectacle lens for children, launched in 2018. The deck says sales have grown at a 21% CAGR since FY21, now just under 10% of eyeglass lens sales. It also presents trial data showing that the second-generation MiYOSMART iQ produced no average myopia progression over 12 months, and a plan to sell iQ in 54 countries by the end of FY26 Q3.
Yes. The page offers the original PDF and an editable PPTX converted from it. The PPTX is a machine conversion, so check fonts and the Japanese text layout before reusing slides.
The structure works well for one: a KPI-tile summary, segment pages pairing a revenue bar chart with a profit-and-margin chart, consistent product cards with a growth-rate box, bullets and a photo strip, and a thematic deep-dive section at the end. Replace HOYA's content, branding and photos with your own.
