AI Presentations for Law Firms: Pitches, CLE, Ethics (2026)

AI presentations for law firms work best on the business-of-law side: pitch and panel-review decks, client alerts turned into webinars and CLE programs, client compliance training, and associate training. The safe rule is simple: feed the tool only public or non-confidential material (a published client alert, a statute, your firm's marketing copy), never privileged or client-confidential facts without client consent and firm approval. With 2Slides, an editable 15-slide CLE deck costs 150 credits (about $0.38), and a narrated replay video of the same program costs about $11 more.

Key takeaways

  • The highest-value law firm uses are BD and knowledge work: RFP responses, panel pitches, client alert webinars, CLE programs, client training, and matter kickoff templates. Trial demonstratives are a draft-only use.
  • ABA Formal Opinion 512 (July 29, 2024) says informed client consent is needed before client information goes into many generative AI tools, and boilerplate in an engagement letter is not enough.
  • A published 4-page client alert becomes a 15-slide editable webinar deck (150 credits) plus a narrated replay video (4,660 credits), about $10.82 in total on the 10,000-credit pack.
  • CLE accreditation is state specific. California, for example, requires providers to keep attendance records for four years and give every participant an evaluation form.
  • AI drafts slides; it does not cite-check them. Mata v. Avianca (S.D.N.Y. 2023) ended in a $5,000 sanction over fabricated case citations.
  • New 2Slides accounts get 500 free credits, enough to test three 15-slide Fast PPT decks before anyone approves a budget.

Who this guide is for

Partners who give CLE talks, associates who inherited the "regulatory update" webinar, BD and marketing teams answering RFPs, and legal ops leads who own templates and training. For a general overview, see AI presentations for legal teams. This guide is narrower: the decks a firm uses to win, keep, and train clients, and the professional responsibility rules on what may go into an AI tool. It is not ethics advice; your general counsel or ethics partner decides how any vendor fits firm policy.

The ethics boundary comes first

Every other section depends on this one, so start here.

What ABA Formal Opinion 512 says

The ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility issued Formal Opinion 512, "Generative Artificial Intelligence Tools," on July 29, 2024. It walks through the Model Rules that apply when lawyers use generative AI. The parts that matter for slides:

  • Competence (Rule 1.1). You need a reasonable understanding of what the tool can and cannot do, including its tendency to produce confident errors. That builds on Comment 8 to Rule 1.1, which asks lawyers to keep abreast of "the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology." Most states have adopted some version of that comment.
  • Confidentiality (Rule 1.6). Before you input information relating to a representation into a generative AI tool, you must assess the disclosure risk. For many tools, the opinion says informed client consent is required, and general boilerplate in an engagement letter does not count as informed consent.
  • Supervision (Rules 5.1 and 5.3). Partners and managers should set clear policies on permitted AI use.
  • Fees (Rule 1.5). Hourly billers bill the time actually spent, not the time the deck would have taken by hand.

ABA opinions are persuasive, not binding. Check your state bar's own guidance too.

The practical rule for presentations

Turn the opinion into a rule an associate can apply at 9 p.m. without calling anyone:

Safe to paste or uploadNever without client consent and firm approval
A client alert that is already published on your websitePrivileged memos, draft advice, internal strategy notes
Public statutes, regulations, agency guidance, court opinionsClient names tied to non-public matters, deal terms, settlement figures
Firm marketing copy, practice descriptions, public biosDiscovery material, deposition excerpts, anything under a protective order
Your own outline of a public-law topicFacts that would identify a client's dispute, investigation, or transaction
Anonymized, fictional hypotheticals you wroteData from a client's systems (HR files, incident reports, financials)

2Slides makes no SOC 2, HIPAA, or other certification claim, and it is not a legal-specific platform with matter-level access controls. That is exactly why the left column exists. If a deck needs confidential facts, generate the structure from public material, download the editable PPTX, and type the confidential details in locally inside your firm's environment. For a deeper look at the vendor questions to ask, read are AI presentations safe for confidential data.

Six law firm decks AI handles well

1. RFP responses and panel-review pitch decks

Panel reviews and RFPs follow a fixed structure: experience, team, approach, diversity data, rates or alternative fee arrangements, value-adds. The content already lives in your marketing database; the slides are the bottleneck. AI turns approved boilerplate into a first draft in the client's requested order, but it must not invent anything. Rule 7.1 prohibits misleading communications about a lawyer's services, so every representative matter and statistic must come from your approved, cleared experience list.

Create a 10-slide law firm pitch deck responding to a panel review for a mid-size logistics company's employment law work. Order the slides exactly as the RFP asks: 1) Firm overview, 2) Employment practice and relevant experience, 3) Proposed team, 4) Approach to wage-and-hour class action defense, 5) Client training and counseling, 6) Technology and reporting, 7) Diversity and inclusion, 8) Alternative fee arrangements, 9) Value-adds, 10) Why us. Use ONLY the facts below. Do not add numbers, matters, or awards that are not listed. [paste approved practice description, cleared representative matters, team bios]

Fast PPT produces an editable PPTX you can restyle, and the on-brand template fill guide shows how to keep fonts and colors consistent across pitches.

2. Client alerts turned into webinar and CLE decks

The strongest use case. A published client alert is vetted, public, and partner-reviewed. Turning it into a 20-minute webinar or a CLE program used to cost an associate a day of slide building; now it is an upload. The worked example below goes end to end, and how to create a webinar deck with AI covers agenda, polls, and Q&A slots.

3. CLE presentation slides

CLE adds a layer of rules that slides alone do not satisfy. Accreditation is set by each state's bar or CLE board, and requirements differ on course length, written materials, ethics credit categories, attendance verification, and whether recorded programs count. As one example, the State Bar of California's MCLE provider responsibilities require providers to take attendance on the Record of Attendance form (or equivalent) and keep it for four years, issue certificates showing total hours and any specialty credit such as legal ethics or technology in the practice of law, and give each participant an evaluation form.

That shapes the deck: include an agenda with timed segments, clearly label any ethics or specialty credit segment, plan written materials beyond slides (the alert itself often serves), and remember that recorded replays may count as self-study or need separate approval. Check your jurisdiction, and every jurisdiction your attendees are licensed in, before you advertise credit.

4. Client training (compliance training for a client's staff)

Harassment prevention for a client's managers, export controls for a sales team, privacy basics for support staff: public law plus general guidance, so it stays in the safe column. Skip examples from the client's own incidents unless the client supplies and approves them. Because staff work shifts, a narrated MP4 their LMS can host beats a live session; the file-to-narrated-video workflow covers voices and export, in any of 20+ languages checked by a fluent reviewer.

5. Internal training for associates

Research workflow, writing standards, billing policy, or "how we run a deal" are internal, non-client, and change yearly. Upload the training memo and let the practice group leader edit. The training deck guide has a reusable outline.

6. Matter kickoff decks (structure only)

A kickoff deck is mostly structure. Generate it with bracketed placeholders, then fill the client's facts in the downloaded PPTX inside your firm's systems.

Create a 9-slide matter kickoff template for a commercial litigation matter. Use bracketed placeholders for all client and case facts, for example [Client name], [Opposing party], [Key deadline]. Slides: Matter overview, Team and roles, Client contacts and communication protocol, Key dates and deadlines, Workstreams, Budget by phase, Document handling and litigation hold reminders, Risks and open questions, Next 30 days.

The AI never sees a client name. You get a reusable firm template.

A note on trial demonstratives

Trial demonstratives are governed by evidence rules (in federal court, Rule 107 on illustrative aids, effective December 2024, plus Rules 611(a) and 1006), local rules, and pretrial orders that often require early exchange. Firms with real trial exposure use specialist trial graphics consultants for good reason. AI can sketch a timeline concept from public facts; treat it as a draft for the graphics team, never as an exhibit, and do not upload record material to build it.

Worked example: a 4-page client alert becomes a CLE webinar and a narrated replay

The source. A published 4-page client alert on a new state privacy regulation: effective dates, coverage thresholds, five core obligations, enforcement, and a "what to do now" checklist. It is public and partner-reviewed, so it is safe input.

Deliverable 1: the live webinar deck (editable). Open Fast PPT, choose a restrained, professional template from the library, and paste the alert text with this instruction:

Turn this published client alert into a 15-slide deck for a 20-minute client webinar that may be submitted for CLE credit. Audience: in-house counsel and privacy officers. Structure: title; agenda with timed segments; why this regulation matters; who is covered (thresholds); effective dates timeline; one slide per core obligation (5 slides); enforcement and penalties; how this compares with existing obligations; what to do in the next 90 days (checklist); questions; disclaimer slide ("This presentation is general information, not legal advice"). Use only the facts in the alert. Keep each slide to 4 bullets max. Put the full statutory citation on each obligation slide exactly as written in the alert.

2Slides Fast PPT page for generating an editable PowerPoint from a prompt

Figure 1: The Fast PPT page, which produces an editable PPTX with native text boxes the speaker can revise.

Cost: 15 pages x 10 credits = 150 credits, about $0.38 on the 2,000-credit pack. The presenting partner can rewrite bullets, add the logo, and insert speaker notes.

Deliverable 2: the narrated on-demand replay. For clients who missed the live session, upload the same alert PDF to Create Slides from File, which produces designed, image-based slides, then add per-page AI narration and export MP4 (16:9 for your website, 9:16 for a short social teaser).

2Slides designed-slides page used for image-based slides with narration and MP4 export

Figure 2: The designed-slides workflow, which supports per-page narration and MP4 export.

Cost for 15 pages at 2K:

ItemCredits
Planning10
15 designed slides at 100 credits each1,500
Narration, 15 pages at about 210 credits each3,150
Replay subtotal4,660
Live webinar deck (Fast PPT, from above)150
Program total4,810

On the 10,000-credit pack ($22.50), 4,810 credits is about $10.82. On the Pro plan ($12.50/month for 10,000 credits), you can produce two complete programs like this per month. The 500 free credits on a new account cover the Fast PPT deck three times over but not the narrated replay.

Caveat: designed slides are images, so a typo means regenerating the page, not editing a text box. That is why the live deck uses Fast PPT.

What you still do by hand (budget about 90 minutes):

  1. Cite-check every citation and date against the alert and the primary source. Read the AI hallucination fact-checking guide once and turn it into a checklist.
  2. Partner review of the substance, exactly as you would for the alert.
  3. Add the CLE wrapper your jurisdiction requires: credit statement, attendance verification method, evaluation form, written materials.
  4. Listen to the full MP4 for statute names and agency acronyms before posting.
  5. Add the firm disclaimer and any attorney advertising legend your state requires, and log the review per your AI policy.

Why hallucinated citations are the real risk

In Mata v. Avianca, Inc., No. 22-cv-1461 (S.D.N.Y.), lawyers filed a brief containing case citations generated by ChatGPT that did not exist. Judge P. Kevin Castel's Opinion and Order on Sanctions of June 22, 2023 imposed a $5,000 penalty jointly on the two lawyers and their firm and required letters to the client and to each judge falsely named as an author. The court said there is "nothing inherently improper about using a reliable artificial intelligence tool for assistance," but existing rules "impose a gatekeeping role on attorneys to ensure the accuracy of their filings."

A CLE deck is not a court filing, but the same logic applies. Two habits: constrain the source (use only the uploaded alert, never "add relevant case law"), and diff every citation, date, and figure on the slides against the source. Anything that does not match gets deleted, not fixed from memory.

How 2Slides compares for law firm use

ToolWhere it fits for a law firmWatch out for
Microsoft Copilot in PowerPointWorks inside your existing tenant and firm templates; your IT team may already have approved itRequires the right Microsoft 365 licensing; design output is more basic
ChatGPT / Claude (chat)Good at outlining a talk or rewriting bulletsNot a slide tool on its own; firm policy on which account tier is approved matters
GammaFast, attractive web-first decksWeb-native format; check export fidelity if you must deliver PPTX
CanvaMarketing visuals and social teasersLess suited to dense, citation-heavy CLE slides
Google Slides + GeminiFirms on Google WorkspaceCheck your tier's data terms
Beautiful.ai, Plus AI, SlidesAI, MagicSlidesTemplate-led design, some inside PowerPoint or Google SlidesFeature sets vary; test with your own template
2SlidesEditable PPTX from Fast PPT at 10 credits per page, plus narrated MP4 replays from a PDF in the same account; no per-seat pricingDesigned slides are images; no legal-specific certifications or matter-level controls

If your firm has approved Copilot and you need a quick internal deck, use it. 2Slides earns its place when one alert should become both the live editable deck and the narrated replay, or when BD needs volume without adding seats.

Where 2Slides is not the right tool

  • Anything containing client-confidential or privileged facts, unless your client has given informed consent and your firm has approved the vendor. Use the placeholder approach instead.
  • Trial exhibits and demonstratives. Use your trial graphics team.
  • Firms that require an enterprise vendor with SOC 2 reports, BAAs, or DMS integration. 2Slides does not make those claims.
  • Legal research. It turns your source into slides. It does not find or verify law.

Automate it with the API

If your marketing team publishes several alerts a week, wire it once: when an alert goes live on your public site, a job sends that text to POST /api/v1/slides/generate (editable deck), or to create-pdf-slides then generate-narration (replay), and drops the files in a review folder for the authoring attorney. Only published text crosses the wire.

curl -s -X POST https://2slides.com/api/v1/slides/generate \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $SLIDES_API_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "userInput": "<published client alert text>. 15-slide client webinar deck, use only these facts.", "themeId": "<themeId from /api/v1/themes/search>", "responseLanguage": "English", "mode": "async" }'

Poll GET /api/v1/jobs/{id} for the download URL. Keys and docs are at the 2Slides API; the same operations run as an MCP server.

FAQ

Can lawyers ethically use AI to make presentations?

Yes, with conditions. ABA Formal Opinion 512 allows it if you understand the tool, protect confidences, supervise use, and verify output. Using only public material avoids most confidentiality concerns.

Do I need client consent to use an AI presentation tool?

Not for public, non-client material like statutes or your firm's published alerts. If you would input information relating to a client's representation, Opinion 512 says informed consent is often required, and boilerplate engagement letter language is not enough. Check your state's guidance.

Can AI-generated slides be used for CLE credit?

The slides can be, but accreditation depends on the program, not the tool. Each state sets its own rules on length, written materials, attendance records, and recorded programs. California, for example, requires four-year attendance records and participant evaluations. Check your jurisdiction.

What is the best AI presentation tool for lawyers?

Copilot fits firms already licensed on Microsoft 365. 2Slides fits when you need editable PPTX plus narrated replays from one source at low per-deck cost. Test either with your firm template and a real published alert.

How much does it cost to turn a client alert into a webinar deck?

On 2Slides, a 15-slide editable deck costs 150 credits, about $0.38. Adding a 15-page narrated MP4 replay brings the total to 4,810 credits, about $10.82 on the 10,000-credit pack.

Can AI make trial demonstratives?

Only as rough drafts. Demonstratives are governed by evidence rules, local rules, and pretrial orders, and usually need a trial graphics specialist. Never upload record material to a general-purpose tool.
